The Initial Situation
It was cause for celebration when the new system was installed at Edi Recycling in Lyss, Switzerland. However, it didn’t take long to realize that the machine wasn’t delivering the desired performance. The vibrations in the recycling filter system could not be effectively dampened due to inadequate rubber mounts. The extreme residual vibrations were transmitted to the steel structure, resulting in a massive loss of performance. Productivity was therefore far below the expected level. It was clear that this problem had to be resolved immediately.
The Solution
Elias Nützi from mwn GmbH turned to ROSTA AG, as is customary in such cases. The analysis revealed that the installed rubber dampers could not withstand the load. The problem was resolved very quickly by replacing the rubber dampers with eight ROSTA AB elements. This led to a massive increase in throughput and raised productivity to the desired level. This even exceeded Edi Recycling’s expectations.
Products Used
The ROSTA elements used are AB 50 and AB 45. These are maintenance-free elastic joints developed in various designs to support the freely oscillating vibrating screens. They assist the driving force in the conveying direction and ensure good linear guidance. The ROSTA AB elements are designed not only to act as springs but also to quickly and effectively absorb strong vibrations.
