ATEX motor bases enhance environmental safety

The Initial Situation

In early 2017, CMC Texpan developed a new EX version of its standard vibrating screen for wood processing. Unfortunately, the major problem was that the risk of a fire outbreak could not be ruled out. In this environment, every single source of sparks poses a real danger. This is a very serious issue in this sector, where fires are not uncommon. In a proactive effort, Texpan sought a solution using ROSTA products.

The Solution

The idea was to develop a protective guard for enclosed spaces capable of suppressing a potential flash fire that could cause an explosion in the wood dust during the process. ROSTA MBs are the ideal solution for improving environmental safety. Installing this product ensures that no sparks can form between the electric motor and the screen frame. The ATEX Motorbase has proven to be a welcome addition to Texpan’s existing system.

Products Used

The MB ATEX motor bases are devices designed for use in environments with Group IIC explosive gases, temperature class T5, or combustible dusts with a maximum surface temperature of T 100°C. The devices are designed in accordance with the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC and the applicable European harmonized standards EN 1127-1:2011, EN 13463-1:2009, and EN 13463-5:2011.
